What do I do if the lights go out?
Sounds like a silly question… but many of us are ashamed to confess that we hope someone else is around to find the fuse box, change the light bulb or whatever. The cause is often something simple, so take a look below and you won’t need to rely on anyone else. The first piece of advice is to make sure you know where your consumer unit (fuse box) is located. Don’t wait until you are fumbling around in the dark before you ask yourself this question!
If some of the lights and appliances in your house all fail at once, then it’s likely that one of your electrical circuits is at fault. Find your consumer unit (fuse box) and look inside to see if one of the circuit breakers has tripped. If so, it will be in a different position to the other circuit breaker switches. Switch it back on, and hey presto, the lights should work again.
